You Are Awesome

Hi Friends!

Just a quick post today sharing my DT piece for the Inspiration Post over on the STAMPlorations blog ...

I've taken a break from Christmas crafting and took my Ovals Flexi-Template out to give it a little play time.

You can see in my post here how I aligned the ovals to sponge my frame. Of course the florals were stamped first and masked off. I finished off with a bit of script stamping, a partially stamped and die-cut sentiment and a couple of sequins.

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used in today's card:

Should you feel like browsing STAMPlorations' shop, check out their latest offer below.

I've got to be honest, if you use the code and/or the link to the STAMPlorations Shop I provide in my posts for your purchases, I will get a little reward, at no extra cost to you of course.

That's it from me for today. Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out my teamies' beautiful makes.

I shall be back soon with more crafty makes. Until then ... have a lovely day!

Smile!

Hello Crafty Friends!

It is Wednesday and time for a new challenger over at The Male Room challenge blog where the bi-weekly challenge is all about making projects for the men in our lives. Our guest designer for the next fortnight is Patty, you can check out her fabulous creations on here on Patty's blog

My DT project for the new challenge is this monochromatic B&W card ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #93 we are looking for 'Photography and Cameras' inspired projects. Lots of scope there!

Well, I am old enough to remember the old negatives one got from taking photos on film which was my inspiration following this fortnight's theme. I had intended to sneak a camera in somewhere, but somehow it didn't seem to look right.
Instead I focused on the old negative strip, the 'smile' for being on camera and the creative seeing that goes hand in hand with photography. And, of course, a bird had to be in the picture too, especially since I was watching Countryfile at the weekend, where they were judging the photography competition for their yearly calendar.

I am entering my card at Craft Stamper August Make It Take It Challenge.

Fancy creating your 'Photography & Cameras' inspired make, pop over to The Male Room for more inspiration and to link up your masculine makes.

That's it from me for today
Have a lovely day!

My Hero

Hi All,

It's Inspiration time over at STAMPlorations. I was playing around and decided to go grungy mixed media for my DT piece with a little bit of recycling thrown into the mix ...

Let's start with the recycling ... the card base is made from card Shery used as packaging and the bird is die cut from a piece of old cook book paper. I die cut the bird from a piece of mustard spritzed book paper and doodled the bird myself. The die itself is from the Birds Of Paradise Coordinating CUTplorations Die set. Once finished with the doodling, I added some shading using a matching Promarker. The background is made from a Gelli Plate print I created a while ago using the ARTplorations Bloom Factory Stencil. I sponged the edges with a Tangerine Tango ink and added some more detail to my print and the base card using stamps from the Mixed Media Elements and Hashtag Authentic sets. I attached the bird and added some doodles before finishing off with a sentiment from the It's All About You set.

Here is a last look at my finished card ...

For more inspiration, pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog. Whilst there, leave a comment for your entry to win a $10 gift certificate. you might also want to browse their blog for challenges, inspiration and tutorials.

That's it from me for now. Have a lovely day!

STAMPlorations April Stamp Release Blog Hop

Hi All,

Welcome to Day 5 of the STAMPLorations April Stamp Release Blog Hop. Today it's the turn of the Inspiration team to showcase the new stamps. Each of us created one card per new set. I am starting my post off with a creation using the feathers from the Trendy Feathers 2 set and a sentiment from the Strong Women set which is fast becoming one of my favourites.

The background is made by  applying some Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight inks to my craft mat spritzed with water and picked up with a piece of white card to which I added a few black spritzed splatters. The pink feathers are stamped and fuzzy cut, the yellow one is heat embossed, my sentiment was stamped on a matching panel before layering everything up as seen and finishing off with some sequins and a twine bow.

Next up is a card using the Groovy Shoes set which I combined with the splatters from the Mixed Media Elements set to create this retro inspired card ...

I stamped a border using the larger one of the half flower stamps using Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry inks. I then used a damp brush and pulled some of the colour from the outline into the petals to create a little shading. I stamped the splatters, stamped my sentiment, layered up, added a doodled border and finished off with some gems and fuzzy cut heels.

Next up is a card using the Smile set in combination with brushos ...

The lily is white embossed on a piece of cream card, the same type I used for my base card, sprinkled with brushos and spritzed with water and fuzzy cut once dry. The background has been created in a similar way directly onto my base card, sprinkling with brushos and spritzing with water. Once dry, I layered up my elements and stamped my sentiment at the top.

Next up is a card featuring another stamp from the Strong Women set in combination with the lily of the valley stamp from Smile and a sentiment from Hashtag Authentic ...

I started off sponging my turquoise oval and bleaching the large amazing (Hashtag Authentic) into it using water. I then stamped my sentiment once and the lily of the valley several times in Concord Crush and coloured them using Northern Light Twinkling H2Os avoiding the stamped outline as much as possible as the ink I used to stamp was a dye ink. A little turquoise spritzing finished the look.

As with every blog hop leaving comments on participating blogs will give you entries in the final prize draw. Commenting closes on Tuesday 3rd May and the winners will be announced on Thursday 5th May.

Butterfly Prints 1

Hi All,

I promised you a while ago that you'd be seeing more of my Gelli Plate creations when I showed you how to use your Gelli Plate for mirror stamping in this post here. Well today I got another helping for you ... a simple printing technique using dye ink, roller/brayer and stamp.

Here are the results ....

After I had taken the prints, for which there is a short video, all I had to do was adding a sentiment and a few doodled lines before finishing off with some gems. I used the Blossom Like A Butterfly and Bold Sentiments: Hashtag Authentic sets by STAMPlorations to make these two cards which I used to showcase this technique at a demonstration I did for my local craft club ...

I am entering my cards at:
Addicted to Stamps and More - Anything Goes

I mentioned that there is a little video. Please make sure that your volume is turned up as my voice hasn't yet fully recovered from January's bout of colds. I also made a mistake when introducing the butterfly stamp, it is by STAMPlorations and can be found here.

At this point I am repeating the big THANK YOU to all my YouTube followers, 165 at the point of writing this post, and extend it to my Blog Followers too. I am still having problems with the 'Join This Site' button, it is not working, and I can't get it resolved. However, there is a solution, the tiny green square(s) to the right of it can be clicked and will allow you to join.

With no further ado ... here is the tutorial ...

You might now wonder what happened to the butterfly backgrounds, the finished cards will be posted  here on Tuesday 1st March 2016.

The prints I took during the demo can be seen here as finished cards. I had to split it up, otherwise the post would have been very long.

That's it from me for now, back shortly with more creations.

Have a lovely day!
hugs

You Are Amazing

... at least that is how the British public feels about the little robin.

Hi Everybody!

Yes. yesterday it was revealed that the robin is Britain's favourite bird as voted for by the public!!! What better way to celebrate this event than making a card ... better even as it was also time to create a project for the Inspiration post over at the STAMPlorations Blog.
The thought of robin had me straight away reaching for The Bee's Knees Small Birds set. I had also been watching part of the Inventive Ink class over at Craftsy and wanted to try out some of the techniques ... here is my result ...

Birdie had to get dressed up as robin again. This time I decided to keep it sketchy and give him an orange (SU's Tangerine Tango) chest only to help him stand out from the colourful mixed media style background I had in mind. In the class Marjie Kemper uses DI's and blending tools, I decided to see how far my trusted SU inks (Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point), brushes and dried baby wipes could stretch to create similar effects. I started off lightly dusting some MM and DD on a piece of white card before stenciling part of the ARTplorations Bubbles stencil in DD, part of the Christmas Trees stencil in MM and some of the Confetti Circles stencil in PP before lightly blending the edges with PP. I then stamped my sentiment from the Hashtag Authentic set in black, did the same with the bar code strip and doodles chevrons from the Mixed Media Grunge set before doodling a border and lightly spritzing with TT and black. I then blended PP around the edges of my white base card, fuzzy cut birdie, layered everything in place and added some sequins to finish.

I am entering the amazing birdie at:
Time Out Challenges - Happy is the Birdie that the Sun shines on
Moo-Mania - Anything Goes
Sisters of Craft - Anything Goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes with optional twist to make something for a best friend

Next up just a quick reminder ...

More Gelli Plate

Hi Everybody,
Thanks so much for all your lovely comments. They are very much appreciated. As you might have noticed there is a Blog Hop going on over at the STAMPlorations Blog. This time around it's all about stencils, and the STAMPlorations girls got bags of ideas, tips, tricks and techniques to share. You can find the projects from Day 1 here.

Now to today's project I want to share. I used one of the Gelli Plate backgrounds I created the other day using the ARTplorations Stencil Shutters in combination with the Blossom Overture and Hashtag Authentic stamp sets. Here it is:

First I put down a layer of metallic silver acrylic paint on my Gelli Plate on which I put my stencil. Then I spread a little mustard acrylic paint over part of the stencil before removing the stencil and taking my first print, which is the one I used for this card. I still need to record a video on how exactly I make my prints, for now Shery has a quick demonstration here which is similar to what I do.
I stamped, coloured (Promarkers: gold, tulip yellow, honeycomb, burnt orange, pear green) and fuzzy cut my rose from the Blossom Overture set, heat embossed the sentiment amazing and stamped the you are in green. I then layered my elements on a green base card and attached some twine and metal charm to finish.

This card is part of the Inspiration Post over at the STAMPlorations Blog. This is where we invite you to pick one of our creations, CASE and enter it at the CASEplorations Playground for your chance to win $15 gift certificate or two ARTploration stencils of your choice. You can find all the information here.

I would like to enter my card at:

Crafty Calendar - add metal
Sisters of Craft - anything goes
Scribble and Scrap - anything goes
Crafts Galore Encore - anything goes
613 Avenue Create - Anything Goes

Next up is a quick feel better card, one can never have too many of these ...

I simply stamped and heat embossed the chevrons, stamped my sentiment, stamped, coloured, fuzzy cut and attached my rose, doodled a border and added some gems and glossy accents to finish.

I am entering this card at:
Addicted to Stamps and More - CAS
Stempelsonne - anything goes with stamp as main focus

Hope you enjoyed my little offering today. If you did and you would like to follow my blog, you can either follow through Google+ or by clicking on the small green squares next to the join this site button.
I shall be back shortly with my projects for Day 2 of the ARTplorations Stencil Blog Hop.
See you there.
Have a lovely day!
