Oh Frap!

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.  I rather like this 'oh frap!' sentiment, it's quite useful for any situation one wants to say 'I'm sorry' for especially belated birthdays. That's what I had in mind when creating my card ...

It's been ages since I last used my distress inks, they definitely needed an outing for today's card. I picked up Wilted Violet, Abandoned Coral and Twisted Citron plus the Make Marks 2 stencil and one of the Art Marks 2 stamps and set about creating my background. I then finished off with my little die-cut toppers and sequins.

The one with the sentiment uses a sticker and adding the dashed lines along the sticker's edges turns it into a real focal point.

STAMPlorations Hey Love Hop 2020

Hello Crafty Friends!

STAMPlorations arehaving a celebration of Love with their Hey Love Blog Hop & Linky Party.  For today's projects I have used their new Love Doodled A2 Card Front digis available for free at STAMPlorations Digital Store  ...

For my first card I used my little brushes to add a few touches of red and grey shading. I wanted to keep the colour scheme simple and add some depth through shading.

My second card is a bit more involved. I cut a little panel from the image and coloured the rest with my pencils. I thought it might be nice to do the reverse of the normal spotlight colouring and leave the panel uncoloured apart from the sentiment. I ended up colouring a few bits of the panel to add flow to my design and finished off with sequins and a thick embossed heart.

Hop prizes:

- THREE (3) winners randomly drawn from all comments left on the STAMPlorations blog and participating designers' blogs will each receive their choice of TYPOGRAFIA Romantique stamp.

Hey, Love Linky Party prizes:

- FIVE (5) randomly drawn players will each receive a $10 gift code; however, a randomly drawn player who has used a STAMPlorations product in her project will receive a $15 gift certificate instead.

- ONE (1) randomly drawn player who uses any of the 2 new digi stamps in her entry will receive a $25 gift code.

If you feel like bagging yourself a bargain, you can take advantage of Love/Spring Sale with an instant 20% off from 22nd January until 10th February.
You can check out all of STAMPlorations' current promotions here.

That's it from me for today. Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to join the Hey Love Hop & Linky Party. Linking up and commenting end Saturday 8th February.

More Daffodils

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.  Daffodils are my favourite flower this time of year, and I usually get fresh ones every week ...

Simple, yet effective ... I stamped the Daffodil Row and coloured it using pencils and finished off with a die-cut sentiment and sequins.

A Latte Thanks

Hello Crafty Friends!

Just a little reminder that there is still time to play along at January's challenges over at STAMPlorations. Here is my remider DT piece for this month's Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge ...

The theme for the current challenge is Stamps & Splatters and the photo prompt can be seen below. Your project can either be inspired by the theme, photo prompt or both. The full challenge rules can be found here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

This time my inspiration came from the pinky colour and the cutlery, represented by the teaspoon. I started off by stamping the cup from Thank You Coffee to one side of my card. I decided to colour the flowers and teaspoon only using my metallic pencils. To finish I stamped my sentiment and one of the splatters from the Art Marks set and added a couple of sequins.

As for the prizes:
Two winners, one of a $15 gift certificate and one of a $10 gift certificate, will be picked by one member of our DT.
Plus 3 randomly drawn winners will each receive a $5 gift certificate.

In order to be considered for a prize, make sure you've followed the rules here.

Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out how my teamies interpreted the challenge theme and prompt and of course to join in the fun too.

That's it from me for now. Have a lovely day!

Sunny Daffodil

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.  For today's card, I used some of the new additions to STAMPlorations Digital Store which you might recognise from some of their past stamp sets ...

I am rather glad the the Boxed Blooms and a couple of the Subway Art Builders are back. It's a while since I used them and I must admit that I cheated a little and used my old polymer stamps instead of the digital ones.

The card however should be easily replicated using the digis especially since the sentiments from the Subway Art Builders are provided as both 5 single sentiments and one large stamp made up of the 5 sentiments.

You simply arrange the daffodil and chosen sentiment stamp before printing, I tend to do this in a wordprocessor, and add stamped colour using one of the splatter stamps from the Art Marks stamp set.

A card like this one would be perfect for entering at STAMPlorations Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge where the theme is Stamps & Splatters.

One Can Never Start Too Early

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today I'm sharing a couple of projects made for January's Christmas In The Air feature over at STAMPlorations. In this special feature Nancy and I are sharing a couple of Christmas projects each on the 2nd Wednesday in January, March and May. You can never start too early making Christmas cards. That way you won't be caught out, at least that's what I've decided to do this year.

I thought I'd start with sharing a couple of one-layer cards, perfect for sending abroad and overseas.

First up is a card with a stencilled holly border.

The inspiration for this card came from my chosen sentiment 'Have a jolly holly Christmas'. It was perfect for a stencilled holly background. My latest toy for blending ink, little eyeshadow applicator brushes, would come in handy too.

I first masked off the strip, positioned the Holly Background Mini Stencil and taped it down.

Next I chose 2 shades of green, 2 shades of red, 1 shade of yellow and simply used the brushes to blend my inks through my stencil ...

... and around the holly before removing the masking tape. I ended up with a nice decorative strip. The stamped sentiment finished my card off perfectly.

TIP!: For a different look, try moving the stencilled strip to the top of the card front and/or change the position of the sentiment.

Next up is my second card featuring a little pencil coloured Elf.

This little elf was so delicate that I felt a CAS card would be the best way to help it take center stage.

To colour the elf I used metallic pencils. Their subtle shimmer adds some extra interest interest as it catches the light. Sadly the shimmer doesn't show up in photos, but looks pretty on the card. A few stencilled stars and stamped sentiment finished my card off.

I decided to stamp my sentiment towards the top of my card front for a more balanced look. I felt it would look too heavy right next to the elf.

Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out the lovely projects my teamie Nancy made. The Christmas In The Air feature also doubles up as a mini blog hop. Shery will randomly draw one winner of a $15 gift code from all the comments left on the Christmas In The Air posts on the STAMPlorations Blog, on Nancy's log and on my blog.

Have fun hopping along.

Adding A hint Of Colour

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.  For today's card, I simply added a hint of colour ...

I've playing around with using the eye shadow applicator bushes again. this time I tried colouring a stamped image. I stamped the image in Bermuda Bay and used the brushes to add a touch of Melon mambo and Daffodil Delight to the lilies and a bit of Bermuda Bay to the leaves and some for grounding the stamped image. The colours are a bit stronger in real life than they are in the photo.

An even quicker way to add colour is by layering on a bold base card instead of colouring the image itself.
