Framed Die-cutting Tutorial

Hi Crafty Friends!

I got a little tutorial for you today. I've basically been playing with some dies to get a framed look.

You may remember my card here from a few weeks ago with the poppy die-cut and the colourful background. It was my first time trying out this idea.

Today's cards will give you a couple more ideas, let's have a look ...

On one card the colour extends to outside the frame through the wings of my butterfly whereas on the other card the colour stays within the rectangle.

To start with I picked the Flutter Zen #1 layering dies and one of the smaller frames from the Basic A2 Panels nesting dies and laid them out on my card base and front to decide on the layout.

Next I die-cut first the butterfly and then the rectangle.

At this point I thought it might be fun to add a variation by cutting the rectangle first and then the butterfly. I cut the rectangle placed it into the one from the first card front, aligned the butterfly and secured it to my rectangle before cutting which gave me the two card fronts below.

I cut two more butterflies for extra layering.

I then masked off around the edges of my base cards and applied some colour. Apologies for swapping the two base cards around in the photo, the sponged rectangle is the one for the butterfly cut from the rectangle, the unevenly blended one for the one with the die-cut wings extending outside of the rectangle.

The next step is to simply attach the card fronts to their bases before inlaying the butterflies.

I added the partially cut one to the rectangle and added a fully cut shape on top for extra dimension. It looked pretty the way it was, but I wanted the wings to extend into the uncoloured space.

For the second card, I simply double-layered the butterfly before adding it, finishing both cards off with a stamped sentiment.

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used in today's card:

The sentiment is from one of their retired sets called Bloom Sketches

Super Skinny Slimline

Hi Friends!

Today I got a Super Skinny Slimline card for you as my DT piece for the Inspiration Post over on the STAMPlorations blog. Here it is ...

I was playing with bits and bobs the other day when doing some scribbling on a small die-cut rectangle using my Crawford & Black colour brush pens. I used them flat on their side to scribble thinking it might give me a smooth blend ... instead it came out in this scribbled shaded pattern which I rather liked.

It was perfect for the single flower silhouette from Deepti's soon to be released Life Is Sweeter set which is part of a pre-order bundle, see more details below.

I matted it on a piece of black card and cut a Super Skinny Slimline card base which is only about 7cm (2 3/4 inches) wide to fit it on ... finishing off with a stamped sentiment and single gem.

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used in today's card:

Noel

Hi Friends!

It's Tuesday which means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. Here is my DT project ...

I created a little scene using the Stitched Winter Landscape and one of the Stitched Snow Hills dies. I used Snowflake embossing powder to add some glittery highlights. In hindsight glitter glue might have been better, The embossing powder looks a little bit creamy against the white card.

Here are the affiliate links to the products I used today:

Beach Happy

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.  I thought I'd share an somewhat uplifting card to remind ourselves that nature's beautiful beaches will still be there for us to be enjoyed in good time ...

I die- cut a rectangle from a piece of yellow card using one of the Basic A2 Panels Nesting Dies and decorated it in the style of one of our beach towels using some of the smaller stamps from the Artsy Tribal Doodles set. I finished off with a sandcastle, sunglasses, sentiment (all from Beach Vibes) and a few stencilled dots. Enjoy! 💖

STAMPlorations Hey Love Hop 2020

Hello Crafty Friends!

STAMPlorations arehaving a celebration of Love with their Hey Love Blog Hop & Linky Party.  For today's projects I have used their new Love Doodled A2 Card Front digis available for free at STAMPlorations Digital Store  ...

For my first card I used my little brushes to add a few touches of red and grey shading. I wanted to keep the colour scheme simple and add some depth through shading.

My second card is a bit more involved. I cut a little panel from the image and coloured the rest with my pencils. I thought it might be nice to do the reverse of the normal spotlight colouring and leave the panel uncoloured apart from the sentiment. I ended up colouring a few bits of the panel to add flow to my design and finished off with sequins and a thick embossed heart.

Hop prizes:

- THREE (3) winners randomly drawn from all comments left on the STAMPlorations blog and participating designers' blogs will each receive their choice of TYPOGRAFIA Romantique stamp.

Hey, Love Linky Party prizes:

- FIVE (5) randomly drawn players will each receive a $10 gift code; however, a randomly drawn player who has used a STAMPlorations product in her project will receive a $15 gift certificate instead.

- ONE (1) randomly drawn player who uses any of the 2 new digi stamps in her entry will receive a $25 gift code.

If you feel like bagging yourself a bargain, you can take advantage of Love/Spring Sale with an instant 20% off from 22nd January until 10th February.
You can check out all of STAMPlorations' current promotions here.

That's it from me for today. Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to join the Hey Love Hop & Linky Party. Linking up and commenting end Saturday 8th February.

Using Left-Overs

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. For today's project I am sharing a couple of cards made from the bits I had left over after my last Spotlight Project here.

Here are today's cards ...

I used the Layered Petals stencil to sponge my background for the strip of white card I had cut the skinny sentiments from.

My next card uses the stencil print from my first card.I simply added the pink panel from which I had cut the shadow layer of my sentiment. I felt it need a bit more definition hence I added the skinny sentiment too.

You could of course always add some embellishments, I am a bit od a plain girl and rather liked them the way they are,

Just giving you a little heads up, STAMPlorations are their last sale of the year and there are still a few days left to bag yourself a bargain, for details feel free to check out the graphic at the end of my post.
You can check out all of STAMPlorations' current promotions here.

Again, I am keeping it short and sweet today. Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out the fabulous projects my teamies made.

That's it from me for now. Have a lovely day!
