Theme & Photo Prompt October

Hello Crafty Friends!
Let's welcome October and the start of another round of challenges over at STAMPlorations. Here is my DT piece for this month's Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge ...

The theme for the current challenge is Stamps & Autumn Colours and the photo prompt can be seen below. Your project can either be inspired by the theme, photo prompt or both. The full challenge rules can be found here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

As you probably already guessed most of my inspiration came from both the theme and the photo.

I used the largest oval from the Flexi-Template (to be released later this month) and sponged with Daffodil Delight SU ink and Miel Izink ink. I left the oval on, placed the Autumn Falling stencil on top and sponged the leaves with Pumpkin Pie SU ink before removing the stencil and Flexi-Template and adding the birds in Broue de Noix Izink ink and finishing off with the stamped pumpkin and sentiment.

As for the Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge prizes:
One winner of a $20 gift code will be picked by one member of our DT.
Plus 3 randomly drawn winners will each receive a $7 gift code.

In order to be considered for a prize, make sure you've followed the rules here.

Each month STAMPlorations are having a different promotion. This month they're offering 10% off across all 3 stores, the main, digital and outlet stores. You can check out the full details of STAMPlorations' special offers on their shop's Promotions Page. Why not pop over and have a little browse.

Should you find yourself placing an order, feel free to use my personal discount code STAMPGIRLMONIKA at checkout for a 20% discount on your order. Please note that my discount code can not be combined with any other coupon code, but you can use it as often as you wish. I've got to be honest, if you use the code and/or the link to the STAMPlorations Shop I provide in my posts for your purchases, I will get a little reward.

Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out how my teamies interpreted the challenge theme and prompt and of course to join in the fun too.

That's it from me for now. Have a lovely day!

December Stencil Sunday Post

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to December's Stencil Sunday over at STAMPlorations. May I take the opportunity to remind you of their current Mixed Media Challenge. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for this Stencil Sunday is ... a tag

I was playing with paste, brushos and embossing powder this time 'round. I applied paste through the Doodled Heart stencil, sprinkled with brusho powders, spritzed with water and allowed to dry before dabbing the stenciled area with Versamark and heat embossing it with a mix of various powders left over from a project I made some time ago. Yes, I have been trying to use it up since.

Other techniques used are some gel pen doodles, freehand and through stencils, stamping and die-cutting.

I hope you feel inspired to create something different, maybe even do some up-cycling or re-purposing .... why not link it up with the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. The theme is always Anything Mixed Media Goes except cards which means projects such as tags, ATCs, canvases, layouts, art journal pages etc,are perfect for entering, and you must have used at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The challenge will close at the end of the month. You can find the full challenge details plus more Mixed Media inspiration here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

That's it from me for today. I shall be back soon with another project to share.

Have a lovely day!

October Stencil Sunday

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to another Stencil Sunday in October, May I take the opportunity to remind you of the current Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for this Stencil Sunday is ... a tag ....

... and here is how I made it:

  • create a tag in the same way I created the covers for my Die Storage Booklet from my Mixed Media Titorial here using the ATC/Gift Card Envelope CUTplorations Die
  • colour the tag using magenta watercolour (Liquarel)
  • sponge turquoise ink through the Delicate Links ARTplorations Stencil (Tempting Turquoise SU ink)
  • stencil the flying birds from the Some Birds ARTplorations Stencil using paste and lightly colour their edges using turquoise ink
  • randomly sprinkle with embossing powders and heat set (Cosmic Shimmer tropic Pink Blaze, WOW Primary Marshmallow, Heat It Up! Enchanted Gold)
  • ink up the rose from the Blossom Overture set, sprinkle and heat some Ultra Think Embossing Powder to one side and whilst still hot stamp the rose into it, allow for a little cooling time before lifting the stamp off (Cosmic Shimmer Tropic Pearl, Ink It Up! Lavender Pigment Ink)
  • stamp some swirls from the Distressed Floral Swirls using Archival Ink (Blue Violet)
  • stamp and attach your sentiment from the Trendy Butterflies set
  • finish off with gold edging, sequins and fibers
Here are a couple of photos from a different perspective:

Now You See It Now You Don't

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday, and that means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. As my DT contribution, I made a special effects card which took days of careful planning .... just kidding ... it was one of the unexpected lucky outcomes ...

I was using my Liquarel watercolours the other day and had some left over which I used to quickly colour some pieces of card. The one I used for today's card was Cyan on linen effect card spritzed with water which gave it a lovely ethereal feel providing me with the inspiration for today's card.

I stamped the Trendy Feathers 2 in white craft ink using my MISTI, added my sentiment from Art Is and stenciled the flying birds from the ARTplorations Some Birds Stencil using this fabulous filler I got from the pound shop.

The magic of this card is that the feathers are only visible in certain light conditions, a bit like Mona Lisa's smile. I tried to take the photos in a way that enables you to see them ...

The more you turn away from the light the easier it is to spot them. This effect might be due to using a linen effect card which makes the pigment ink sit on top whereas the watercolour has soaked into the card stock. Normally the two would combine.

That's it from me for today, pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog for more information and to leave a comment for your entry into their prize draw.

Off to do some work now.
Have a lovely day!

September Stencil Sunday

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to another Stencil Sunday in September which gives me the opportunity to remind you of the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for Stencil Sunday is ... a Vintage tag .... and I always thought, I couldn't do vintage for love nor money ... this one just happened as I went along wanting to do something completely different on the outset.

TIP!: In Mixed Media it's always good to go with the flow.

Here are the basic steps on how I made it:
  • die cut the large tag from CUTplorations Luggage Tags Nesting Dies
  • take a pale turquoise and purple brusho print off your crafting mat (I used some Brusho which I had left over from my upcoming Spotlight Project 'Stamping With Brushos) Not sure, if it was down to the brusho print, but the ink colours didn't seem to blend like they normally do. Something I need to keep my eye on.
  • blend some pink through the ARTplorations Honeycomb Delight Stencil (I used Melon Mambo SU ink)
  • do some 2nd generation background stamping using stamps from the Mixed Media Elements set in turquoise (Tempting Turquoise SU ink)
  • blend with yellow (Daffodil Delight SU ink)
  • stamp the script from the Mixed Media Elements set in black partially wiping the ink off before stamping
  • stamp swirls in olive green (Old Olive SU ink) using one of the stamps from the Distressed Floral Swirls
  • stamp and add you sentiment from the Art Is set
  • add two birds using Sparkle Medium (Black Stars) and the Some Birds ARTplorations Stencil
  • add pearls and a touch of golden glitter
  • finish off with a little lace
I am entering my tag at:
Craft Stamper Make It Take It - Anything Goes

September Mixed Media Challenge

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to this first Sunday in September and the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for September is ... a coaster ....

... which is now adorning my craft table for somewhere to rest the all important brew on.

Here are the basic steps on how I made it:

  • die cut a large circle to fit a chipboard coaster base
  • blend the background using turquoise, yellow and pink inks (I used Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and Melon Mambo SU inks)
  • use white Craft ink through the Dots And Dashes stencil
  • sponge pink (Melon Mambo) through the Gridlocked stencil
  • stamp the foot prints and sentiments from the Born to Roam stamp set
  • apply Sparkle Medium (Cherry) using the Some Birds stencil
  • stamp, colour and fuzzy cut the globe and sentiment from Born To Roam, create a shadow for the globe using copper coloured chalk and attach in place
  • add sequin and coat with ModPodge
I hope you feel inspired to create something different .... why not link it up with the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. The theme is always Anything Mixed Media Goes except cards which means projects such as tags, ATCs, canvases, layouts, art journal pages etc,are perfect for entering, and you must have used at least one stencil (any brand) in your project.
