Cakeful Celebrations

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Release and Celebration Time this week over at STAMPlorations as they are having their belated 6th Birthday Celebrations and releasing a few new products too.

Day 1 is dedicated to 2 new stamp sets Layered Cake Bake and Better Together. I was working with Shirley's cake set which we are introducing today. Deepti's new set will be introduced by my teamies tomorrow.

Here are today's projects ...

My first card was inspired by an event going back almost 40 years when on a peaceful Saturday night, things got a little bit too peaceful. Turns out Minka, our the family cat at the time, had set her eyes on my mum's freshly baked cheese cake and devoured almost half of it!

Just a little note, my pink ink pad was a little dry hence the textured look on the bottom layer. 😀

The next project is my artsy take on Battenberg cake.

Here are both of the new stamp sets ....

Wishing Ewe

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Tuesday and this means it's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations.

My DT piece for this week is a little CAS card ...

I thought I'd make one last Christmas In July card and dug out these adorable sheep.

I stamped the hats first and masked them off before stamping the sheep. They were easily coloured using alcohol makers and finished off with a touch of Stickles. The tiny trees are finishing off the cute look.

My sentiment is finished off on the inside ...

Again, I am keeping it short and sweet today. Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog to check out the fabulous projects my teamies made.

That's it from me for now. Have a lovely day and enjoy the sunshine!
hugs
Monika

I decided to work with the Pets to create a CAS card for a dog lover. Here it is ...

Today's card was pretty straight forward:
  • stamp and mask the dog
  • mask to create a strip
  • sponge with Twisted Lemon, Abandoned Coral and Wilted Violet
  • remove masks and stamp sentiment
  • layer on white pearlescent base card
  • finish off with sequins, if wished
I am entering my card at:

Purrfectly Stylish

Hello Crafty Friends!

Here's to looking forward to another year of crafting fun. It is Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations, and Shery has mixed things up a little, for your benefit of course!

Each week the STAMPlorations Inspiration DT are showcasing stamps from one designer. All the stamps by that designer will be reduced by 10% for one week apart from one set which will have a 20% discount. No coupon is needed at check out, and you still can apply my personal discount code STAMPGIRLMONIKA -which doesn't expire, by the way- for an extra 20% off all stamps, dies and stencils!

This week we are showcasing stamps designed by my friend Shirley under her label 'The Bee's Knees'. All her sets will be reduced by 10% and the World Birthday Cakes set which I used in my cards here, here, here and here will be 20% off.

Of course Shery will still draw a winner at random from all the comments left on this month's Inspiration Posts over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

... back to today's project ... I used Pets and City Girl with a little help from the Luggage Tags Nesting Dies to continue my funky foam shaker card exploration ....

... and ended up with a yellow and black combo. I applied some Daffodil Delight ink on my crafting mat, spritzed with water and mopped it up with white card. On one bit I stamped 'You're Fabulous' and on the other the city block (London Milan Paris New York). When die-cutting funky foam, be aware that it does stretch, even if you die-cut it at the same time as your frame. This gave me the lovely yellow shadow. The rest is pretty straight forward ... add a 'ly' to the stamped 'purrfect', layer up and finish with a few black flower sequins.

Here is another look ...

Pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog for more inspiration and to leave a comment for your entry into their prize draw.

That's it from me for today. I shall be back soon.

Pretty In Pink

Hello Crafty Friends!

Over at STAMPlorations, we are celebrating .... 100 Inspiration Project Posts!

For my DT project, I decided to play with their Pets set. That's when one card became two ...

For my first card I sprinkled the cats with Are You Cerise Infusion Powder (PaperArtsy) and spritzed with water. Having two kittens getting themselves into mischief in mind, I set about die-cutting the big splash and splattering my card with matching watercolour. I then stamped my sentiment and arranged my elements as seen.

The next card is actually very girlie as the cats are slightly glittered. For one of the cats, the canter on, I tried some mirror stamping using my MISTI and the reverse of a larger stamp to stamp the original image on. It's a little sketchy, but not bad, just a different effect. I loosely masked my cats, sprinkled Infusion Powder around them, spritzed with water and ended up with a somewhat fireworks type look ... purrfect for a birthday card.

Of course the dogs from the Pets set would look good too on these cards. Here is a last look ...

Given that there is a little celebration, Shery, STAMPlorations owner, has a surprise for you ... simply leave a comment here on my blog, pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog, leave a comment there and visit the one's of my teamies too .... for your chance to win ...

That's it from me for today. I shall be back again tomorrow.

Have a lovely day!

Love All Around

Hi All,

I have been playing with my Gelli Plate in preparation for a demonstration at my Craft Club in a couple of weeks time. Today I was trying out mirror stamping ... here are the results ...

The first card was actually stamped using one of the sticky, gel like mobile phone holders for your car dashboard. It is a good way for trying out this technique should you not wish to splash out on a Gelli Plate which certainly gives you a clearer print as you can see in my second card. The left hand seahorse and the right hand cat were stamped/printed in this way. The right hand seahorse is stamped, but I wasn't careful enough hence I disguised my bad stamping with a couple of hearts.

I am entering my 'Purrfect Love' card at:
Addicted to Stamps and More - CAS
Addicted to CAS - red

I am entering my seahorse card at:
Sisters Of Craft - Anything Goes
613 avenue Create - Anything Goes, use something from your stash - black hearts which I punched out a while ago, but never used

There is a short video showing the technique which I recorded in between seeing clients today, it's short and sweet as I didn't have time to finish my card there and then.

... a last look at both card ...

That's it from me for today. back soon.
Have a lovely weekend!

In The Frame

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely weekend. The weather here in the UK has turned into an enchanting Indian Summer. It was truly magical this morning waking up on a canal boat ... low lying mist over the water and adjacent fields ... the sun still low in the sky ... at the end of our weekend cruising on the Trent and Mersey Canal. Quarry Bank Mill went back to the Hire Company, and I am at home writing up this post. Sounds very mundane .... but there is still fun to be had as it is Inspiration Time over on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Here is my card ...

I thought it might be fun to create a framed scene and to have it spill out onto the card ... I decided to use stamps from the Frames and Flowers, Houses Extras, Pets and Graphic Squares sets, and here is how I made it ...

I started by stamping and masking the path, next I stamped my frame and, with a little bit of masking, the trees before colouring my scene using Twinkling H2Os. I stamped and coloured the post box, stamped my sentiment on a matching strip of card, stamped, coloured and fuzzy cut my cat and layered everything as seen before doodling a few birds to finish.

For more inspiration pop over to the STAMPlorations Blog, my teamies created some fabulous projects, and should you feel inspired to CASE any of our projects, feel free to link them up. The linky can be found at the end of each Inspiration Post on the STAMPlorations Blog.

That's it from me for today. I shall be back soon.
Have a lovely week!
