Space Robot

Hello Crafty Friends!

Today is the start of a new challenge over at The Male Room challenge blog where the bi-weekly challenge is all about making cards and other crafted things for the men in our lives. Here is my DT project ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #81 we are looking for space and science inspired makes. Lots of scope there!

I decided to go for the space theme and thought it might be nice to send a little robot up there to reach for the stars.

I used a bit of ink blending, water splatters, stamping, embossing, watercolouring and die-cutting. Well, and I managed to add a bit of pink to a male card. 😁

Fancy creating your own space/science inspired make, pop over to The Male Room for more inspiration and to link up your masculine creation(s).

That's it from me for today
Have a lovely day!

Read & Be Happy

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. This week my teamies and I are showcasing stamps by Becca under her label 'Big Grins By Becca Cruger'.

I decided to work with the Literary Caffeine-ations to create a little bookmark. Here it is ...

Well, the idea came from the sentiment itself. What better way than turning it into a bookmark? I used the Tag O'Coffee Dies and some patterned paper and simply added some doodles and ribbon to finish.

This is how it sits on a page. If you want to find out how I made a similar bookmark, pop in over at STAMPlorations for my Mixed Media Tutorial 'Wanderlust Bookmark' this coming Friday, 16th March 12 noon Pacific/7pm GMT.

As mentioned earlier, this week we are showcasing stamps designed by Becca under her label 'Big Grins By Becca Cruger'. To mix it up a little, all stamps, stencils and dies - except from the Retiring category- are reduced by 10% this week in the STAMPlorations Shop, no coupon needed. Using my personal discount code STAMPGIRLMONIKA at checkout will give you an added 20% off taking the total discount to 30%. I would love for you to take advantage of this great offer.

Of course Shery will still draw a winner at random from all the comments left on this month's Inspiration Posts over on the STAMPlorations Blog. Pop over to see what my teamies created and to leave a comment for your entry into their prize draw.

That's it from me for today. Have a lovely day!

Celebrating Mother

Hello Crafty Friends!

Happy Mother's Day to all my mother friends. As you probably noticed, I am currently putting nesting dies trough their paces. Here is another make in the shape of a little tutorial making good use of them ...

How did this easel card come together? Well, I folded a piece of medium thick card, one I knew I would be able to cut two layers of, in half. I then cut it to shape using the largest of the Curly Labels/Tags Nesting Dies missing out the top bit along the fold as you can see from the photo below. I also cut an extra piece of card for the topper.

I then scored the front of my folded card along the center as shown.

I stamped the flowers, inked up with the yellow and pink only, and sentiment on the topper ...

... sponged a piece of card and die-cut the butterfly ...

... sponged the inside of my card and attached a die-cut piece of white card ...

.... before finishing off by attaching the topper, ...

... butterfly, gems and adding a little colour to the word MOM.

Here is another look at the finished card ...

That's it from me for today. Have a lovely week!

Happy Bird-day

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. This week my teamies and I are showcasing stamps by our very own Shirley under her label 'The Bee's Knees'.

I decided to work with the Birds Of Paradise set and the Bracket Labels/Tags Nesting Dies to create this fun CAS card ...

A little bit of stamping, masking and die-cutting can go a long way. I decided to cut the apertures first to help with the positioning of the birds. There is a bit of dimension from the apertures and the frames which I quite like. Adding extra dimension by popping the topper on 3D foam didn't look right to me.

I could have kept the birds b&w, but I decided to add a bit of colour to one of them to give my card a different flow.

As mentioned earlier, this week we are showcasing stamps designed by our very own Shirley under her label 'The Bee's Knees'. To mix it up a little, all stamps, stencils and dies - except from the Retiring category- are reduced by 10% this week in the STAMPlorations Shop, no coupon needed. Spring & Faith - March Challenge over at STAMPlorations

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's time for the March Challenge over at STAMPlorations, As my DT contribution, I made a set of ATCs ...

As you probably guessed, the theme for this month is 'Spring And Faith'. You may remember that STAMPlorations currently have only one challenge to give Shery time to settle into a new routine having recently given birth to their second daughter Winter.

Here are the simple rules for the challenge:
  • You may create any type of project -- cards (any style), mixed media, tags, layout, etc -- as long as it follows their theme
  • STAMPlorations product is not required though they’d love to see it
  • You may enter as many times as you want – as long as each project has its own blog post
  • You must display the challenge graphic below + link back to the challenge page to qualify for the prizes
  • You must comment on the entry before yours in the gallery – lets spread the love
  • For an extra chance, comment on the challenge post and the designers’ blog posts throughout the month
Prizes:
  • TWO (2) winners of a $25 gift certificate - randomly drawn from all entries
  • ONE (1) winner of a $25 gift certificate - randomly drawn from all comments left on the designers' blogs throughout the month
Shery is offering a generous 10% (no coupon code needed) off all stamps, stencils, and dies in the store from Feb through April. Using my personal discount code STAMPGIRLMONIKA at checkout will give you an added 20% off taking the total discount to 30%.
No automatic alt text available.

My ATCs were made from a piece of background I made mopping up some Daffodil Delight ink from my craft mat, after spritzing with a little water of course. I simply added some stenciling using the Senecio 1 Stencil and Brusho prints using the shapes from the stencil; I had used the shapes as masks for another project, and they still had some Brusho colour on them, it shows up in the ATCs as flecks of orange and green. Here is a little close-up ...

The little post of Spring flowers is stamped and Promarker coloured. I finished off with sentiments, doodles and gems.

By the way, Faith to me is more like a deep inner knowing that everything will work out fine in the end as difficult as it is sometimes to stick with it. Fear and conscious/subconscious chatter can get in the way a bit. What is your interpretation of Faith?

I am entering my ATCs at:
UK Stampers Forum Facebook Group March ATC Swap - Florals

Fancy creating your own Spring and/or Faith themed make, why not link it up over at STAMPlorations? I look forward to seeing you there.

That's it from me for today. Have a lovely week!

The Best Is Yet To Come

Hello Crafty Friends!

How time flies! Two weeks have passed, and it is time for a new challenge over at The Male Room challenge blog where the bi-weekly challenge is all about making cards for the men in our lives. Here is my DT project ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #80 we are looking for something re-cycled or re-purposed. Lots of scope there!

I had this little tin lying around always intending to use it sometimes. Just a side note, please be aware that other brands of peanuts do exist. I got these a few years ago from a local shop in the UK.

I turned it into a desk tidy for my hubby. The newsprint paper was originally cream hence I sponged it using a few shades of blue. I simply stamped some butterflies and signposts before attaching it to my tin using double sided tape.

I then added the ribbon and die-cut words ...

... and finished off with my white embossed and die-cut sentiment label.

Fancy creating your own re-cycled, up-cycled or re-purposed make, pop over to The Male Room for more inspiration and to link up your masculine makes.

That's it from me for today

Feel Alive

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. This week my teamies and I are showcasing stamps designed by STAMPlorations owner Shery under her label 'Shery Russ Designs'.

To banish the snow and ice from the East and to look forward to Spring and the beginning of the caravan season, I decided to work with the Charmed Cherry Blossoms and Wanderlust stamp sets plus the tag from the Tag O'Coffee CUTplorations Dies to create a card capturing the joy of going on little adventures.

Here it is ...

The tag looks a bit like a window into the future. I used my stamping tool to get the stamped and masked cherry blossoms well aligned over the layers.

For the tag, I used a bit of marker watercolouring and sponging for the hills. The sentiment itself is stamped in Elegant Eggplant, an almost black purple rather than black. I waned to highlight that we feel most alive where colour is.

As mentioned earlier, this week we are showcasing stamps designed by Shery under her label 'Shery Russ Designs'. To mix it up a little, all stamps, stencils and dies - except from the Retiring category- are reduced by 10% this week in the STAMPlorations Shop, no coupon needed.
