Reminder June Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge

Hi Crafty Friends!

Just a quick reminder that there is still time to play along at STAMPlorations June Challenges. Here is my reminder DT project for their Theme & Photo Prompt challenge ...

You can either follow the theme, which this month is Stamps & 2 Colours, take inspiration from the photo or incorporate both.

I went with the theme only for my reminder project and used the Clustered Hearts stencil with Cerise Izink ink for my background. I stamped my sentiment in Elegant Eggplant SU ink, layered and finished off a die-cut butterfly.

As for the Theme & Photo Prompt Challenge prizes:
One winner of a $20 gift code will be picked by one member of our DT.
Plus 3 randomly drawn winners will each receive a $7 gift code.

In order to be considered for a prize, make sure you've followed the rules here.

Here are the affiliate links of the STAMPlorations products I used in today's project:

Should you feel like browsing in STAMPlorations online shop, check out their latest offer below.

Too Much Happy

Hi Friends!

Today I got a load of love for you as my DT piece for the Inspiration Post over on the STAMPlorations blog. Here it is ...

I blended Twisted Citron, Kitch Flamingo and Wilted Violet DI through the Evolution stencil. I then stamped my sentiment in Elegant Eggplant SU ink (sorry about the little bit of fluff which was on the stamp without me noticing until it showed up in the stamping) and attached my die-cut layered butterfly (card and vellum) to finish.

Here are the STAMPlorations products I used in today's card:

Springtime Lemonade

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to May! Over at STAMPlorations my teamies and I are kicking off their Things With Wings Blog Hop & Linky Party.

The warm weather has brought out butterflies and bees, and with it having been so un-seasonally warm over Easter, I couldn't help but making a card with a cool drink and butterfly wings. Here it is ...

I used one of STAMPlorations new floral frap digi stamps and coloured it as lemonade using pencils. I fuzzy cut it and attached it to a stamped butterfly background. A double layer vellum butterfly with a touch of Stickles and gem finished my card off nicely.

If you fancy making your own winged make, why not link it up and join the fun by hopping along ...
As with any blog hop, leaving comments as you go along will give you entries into a prize raw. Here is what you could win:
  • FIVE (5) winners of $10 gift code - randomly drawn from all comments left on the blog and participating designers blogs
  • THREE (3) winners of $15 gift certificate - randomly drawn from all Things with Wings linky party entries
Liking up and commenting finishes on Tuesday 4th June. Winners will be announced on 10th June along with the May challenge winners. Good Luck!

During May all the products in the Things With Wings section in STAMPlorations' Shop will be on sale at 15% off, no coupon needed, the discount is automatically applied at checkout. This offer can be used in combination with my personal discount code STAMPGIRLMONIKA for an added 20% off.

May Stencil Sunday Project

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to May's Stencil Sunday over at STAMPlorations. May I take the opportunity to remind you of their current Mixed Media Challenge. As you know this month their theme is Things With Wings. Your make can be anything apart from a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for this Stencil Sunday is this bold tag ...

... a bold watercolour background with a pasted flower, little leaves, doodles and a white embossed sentiment ... and a popping black sparkling butterfly.

I hope you feel inspired to create something different, maybe even do some up-cycling or re-purposing .... why not link it up with the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. The theme is Things With Wings, please no cards which means projects such as tags, ATCs, canvases, layouts, art journal pages etc,are perfect for entering, and you must have used at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The challenge will close at the end of the month. You can find the full challenge details plus more Mixed Media inspiration here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

That's it from me for today. I shall be back soon with another project to share.

Have a lovely day!

Celebrating Mother

Hello Crafty Friends!

Happy Mother's Day to all my mother friends. As you probably noticed, I am currently putting nesting dies trough their paces. Here is another make in the shape of a little tutorial making good use of them ...

How did this easel card come together? Well, I folded a piece of medium thick card, one I knew I would be able to cut two layers of, in half. I then cut it to shape using the largest of the Curly Labels/Tags Nesting Dies missing out the top bit along the fold as you can see from the photo below. I also cut an extra piece of card for the topper.

I then scored the front of my folded card along the center as shown.

I stamped the flowers, inked up with the yellow and pink only, and sentiment on the topper ...

... sponged a piece of card and die-cut the butterfly ...

... sponged the inside of my card and attached a die-cut piece of white card ...

.... before finishing off by attaching the topper, ...

... butterfly, gems and adding a little colour to the word MOM.

Here is another look at the finished card ...

That's it from me for today. Have a lovely week!

January Mixed Media Challenge

Hello, Crafty Friends!

It's Sunday 7th January today which means, it's the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for January is ... a little canvas ....

This canvas is one of those projects that develop as you go along, just like life turning 'mistakes' into positive outcomes.

I started off creating a shaded blue background on canvas using DIs before stamping the Zinnia Row in both blue and black. The black was too strong, and I decided to cover up with crumpled white tissue paper. Before doing that I added the Peony #1 with paste and some die cuts too for added texture. The tissue was a bit too messy in places hence I removed some of it and, once dry, covered the canvas with translucent Beach Hut paint.

I then added the flowers, thanks to Cath Barnard for my win, and die-cut leaves before painting them with pink acrylic, Bright Fuchia and Blue Starlight Paints. I then added the sentiment, stamped on a piece of tissue paper, some stenciling using the Crisscross stencil with Blue Starlight Paint, plenty of fine splatters, the die-cut Flutter Zen Butterfly, some pearls and finished off with Treasure Silver and Royal Amethyst Treasure Gold Gilding Waxes.

You can still see a bit of the stamped Zinna Row in the photo below towards the top of the canvas between the roses. The blue stenciled Crisscross diamonds are not that easy to spot in the photos, but show up well in real life.

TIP!: For varying depth of texture, try layering several die-cuts of the same shape on top of each other.

The photo below is a bit darker, but captures the sparkle quite well.

I hope you feel inspired to dig into your crafty resourcefulness and create something to enjoy  .... why not link it up with the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. The theme for the Mixed Media Challenge is always Anything Mixed Media Goes except cards which means projects such as tags, ATCs, canvases, layouts, art journal pages etc, are perfect for entering, and you must have used at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. The challenge will close at the end of the month. You can find the full challenge details plus more Mixed Media inspiration here on the STAMPlorations Blog.

Ooops, almost forgot to mention the prizes: one winner as chosen by the Mixed Media DT will receive a $10 gift certificate and two Top Picks will receive a $5 gift certificate each, all of course redeemable at the STAMPlorations Shop ... but that's not all ... if there are 25 or more entries one lucky randomly drawn winner will receive two standard sized stencils of their choice.

That's it from me for today. I shall be back soon with another project to share.

Have a lovely day!
