June TAGplorations

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's 1st Tuesday in June and the start of a new TAGplorations Challenge over at STAMPlorations.

The theme for June is: All About Dad

The optional twist is: to use a Stencil

Here is my DT project ...

As you can see, I went for the optional twist and used a stencil to add some sponged detail. The rest of the background has been stamped on a tag I cut from a piece of card I used to mop up some left over ink from my craft mat. It had been sitting in my 'left over bits' box for a while.

I finished off by adding a bit of decorative tape, stars, paper clip, heart, some white doodles and a piece of ribbon.

If you love tags, why not give it a go and play along? Your project can be anything as long as it features a tag. You can enter as many projects as you want, but one per blog post please, and you don't have to use STAMPlorations products, yet we'd be thrilled if you would. My DT project for the new challenge is ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #112 we're looking for makes which are inspired by Computers/Gaming. Lots of scope there!

I went for a grungy teenager take of the theme featuring a rough watercolour background with splatters and stamping. The laptop is watercoloured and fuzzy cut. I finished off with doodles and decorative tape.

My DT project for the new challenge is ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #111 it's Anything Goes with the optional twist of 'Origami'. Lots of scope there!

#111 Anything Goes with the optional twist of Origami

As you can see, this time round I didn't go with the optional twist, I stayed with the Anything Goes instead.

At the weekend I went to the Art Stamping Festival in Port Sunlight and treated myself to some new catty stamps. I just had to play with these Cool Cats.

The background is stencilled and the cat is coloured using brush markers, the rest is simple stamping ...

... and you got a one-layer card with Catitude!

Nuts And Bolts

Today I'm officially joining the DT over at The Male Room challenge blog where the bi-weekly challenge is all about making cards for the men in our lives. Here is my first DT project ...

Each challenge, of course, has a different theme. For challenge #74 we are asking you to dig into your stash, find some vellum and us it in your card. A good way of using vellum is to add it as a softening layer over a brightly coloured background as I did in my card with the tag.

#74 - 22nd November - Stash

I had this brightly coloured background I made a while ago using stencils, inks and marker pen which I always intended to use as a background for robots, but it was very bright. I added some random stamping and a layer of vellum to achieve my goal of toning it down.

The little robots are watercoloured, the border is heat embossed, adding a few eyelets, sentiment and heart finished my make of perfectly.

Find Beauty

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's Inspiration Time over at STAMPlorations. This week my teamies and I are showcasing stamps designed by STAMPlorations owner Shery under her label 'Shery Russ Designs'.

Well, I got a bit of a surprise for you and ended up making two cards, the first one using the butterfly from Gone Postal, the Find Beauty sentiment from the new Say It Big Series, the little corcles from the Artsy Border Maker and a print of the Ethnic Organic 2 ARTplorations Stencil to create a card fitting the sentiment.

It was a pretty straight forward card to make, the stencil print was one I took when working with Infusion Powders through the Ethnic Organic 2 stencil. It's on linen effect card ,and all I had to do was stamp the sentiment and dotty circles, add the stamped and fuzzy cut butterfly and finish off with a few sparkly enamel dots.

My second card uses the Blossom Sprays #2 stamp and the Good Luck CUTplorations Phrase Die, both from the new release.

It's simply stamped and watercoloured and finished off with a die-cut sentiment.

January Stencil Sunday

Hello, Crafty Friends!

Welcome to another Stencil Sunday in December. May I take the opportunity to remind you of the current Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for this Stencil Sunday is ... a little canvas

I started off attaching the Life Is Good ARTplorations Mask to a piece of mixed media card, blended with Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron and Abandoned Coral DIs and spritzed with water. I used the same inks to blend the edges of a small flat canvas.

With my mask still on, I stamped the flowers (Floral Bliss, Zinnia Large, Seashell Cosmo Large, Dahlia Large) in black Versafine before adding some texture using my coloured inks and stamps from the Scribbly Splattery Grunge set before stamping the butterfly from the same set in black, lightly sponging with Hickory Smoke and outlining 'Life Is Good' with a black fineliner pen.

Next, I removed the mask, tore the edges of my piece of card, attached it to my canvas before adding some Versamark and Shabby Pink Frantage Powder and heat setting it.

I then blended the edges, stamped the partial border (Artsy Border Maker), added a touch of Royal Amethyst and Rose Quartz Treasure Gold and some gold gel pen doodles around the edges.

I cut a length of matching organza ribbon, added some pearls and attached on the reverse of my canvas.

I stamped, watercoloured and fuzzy cut the butterfly (Blossom Like A Butterfly), lightly shaped and attached it in place before adding some sequins to finish.
