December Mixed Media Challenge

Hello, Crafty Friends!

It's Sunday 3rd December today which means, it's the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for December is ... a Christmas tag ....

As you may have already noticed, I am not one for using traditional colours this year. Turquoise and purple seems to be my favourite combination.

I cut the largest Manila Tags Nesting Dies twice once from plum card and once from a piece of brusho coloured card before edging the latter using one of the ATC/Tag Builder Dies. I used white paste through the Trees 1 stencil for a wintery look, added some washi, die-cut sleigh and sentiment before finishing off with tiny stars, a little gold edging, Stickles and fibers.

I hope you feel inspired to dig into your crafty resourcefulness and create something to enjoy  .... why not link it up with the Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. The theme for the Mixed Media Challenge is always Anything Mixed Media Goes except cards which means projects such as tags, ATCs, canvases, layouts, art journal pages etc, are perfect for entering, and you must have used at least one stencil (any brand) in your project. February Mixed Media Challenge

Welcome to February and the start of a new Mixed Media Challenge over at STAMPlorations. As you know Anything Mixed Media Goes as long as it is not a card and you use at least one stencil.

My DT contribution for January is ... a tag ....

I used dies the ATC/Tag Builder set to cut my tag from a piece of linen textured card which I had at some point used to mop up some left over Bermuda Bay ink. I added a little Strawberry Slush (pink) and stamped the background in  Baked Brown Sugar using stamps from the Scribbly Splattery Grunge set before doodling around the edge using my Early Espresso marker. Next I stenciled one of the hearts from the Zen Hearts stencil with Cherry Sparkle Medium and allowed it to dry before adding the white gel pen doodles. I then added the stamped 'love' and 'happiness' (Sentiment Builders: Love and the die-cut phrase 'you & me'. Sequins, gem and fibers finished off the look.

STAMPlorations January Release Week Day 2

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to Day 2 of the STAMPlorations January Release Blog Hop which today features Fowl Play, a set of 7 adorable chicks and 3 sentiments ....

I know, you'll be having so much fun with these chicks. As for my part, they were perfect for a slider-shaker card ...

The slider element sits in front of the acetate in a pocket created by attaching the frame on three sides only. You could of course have it sliding out to the side rather than the top.

Otherwise it's a straight forward shaker card with the sentiment stamped inside the shaker element.

25 Tags Of Christmas

Hello Crafty Friends!

Welcome to 25 Days Of Christmas Tags featuring STAMPlorations. Shery, STAMPlorations owner, is one of the sponsors and put up a prize in the form of a $25 gift certificate, redeemable at the STAMPlorations Shop of course. If you want to play along, make sure to check out Tracey's Blog for all the information about the 25 Days Of Christmas Tags event.

I went for a teal/silver and white creation using the CUTplorations ATC/Tag Builder Dies and Blessings Word Die in combination with stamps from the Oh, Christmas Tree! set.

It was quite easy to make:

• cut a tag and the bottom bit of the tag from white card using dies from the ATC/Tag Builder set
• blend the tag with Soft Sky and Island Indigo inks
• stamp the Christmas Trees in Island Indigo and silver emboss one of them
• stamp the sentiment in Island Indigo and cut to size
• give the white bottom bit a torn edge
• die-cut the word Blessings from silver card and punch a little star from the same card
• layer up as shown adding a little Stickles to the torn edge as you go along
• add some rays to the star using a sparkly gel pen and finish off eith gem and ribbon

CUTplorations Mini Release

Hello Crafty Friends!

It's CUTplorations Mini Release time over on the STAMPlorations Blog and this means more Blog Hop Fun! Two sets of dies are being released. the Art Edges Border Dies and the ATC/Tag Builder Dies. You might have seen us using them already over the last couple of weeks ... you know what it is like once new toys arrive ... one just has to play!
Here are my DT projects for your inspiration ...

I used the toothy edge die to cut my piece of white card diagonally in half, layered it on some pretty paper, added my die cut sentiment, Peace On Earth Phrase Die, stamped and die cut my reindeer, Christmas Reindeer stamp set and Coordinating Dies, layered it all on my base card and finished of with a red nose and copious amounts of Stickles.

Next up is a tag I made using both of the new sets with a little help from Reindeer Games and Gone Postal, here it is ...

I die cut my basic shape from kraft card using the ATC/Tag Builder dies, added two white borders using one of the Art Edges dies and rounded the corners of the bottom one to make it blend in. I stamped, coloured and fuzzy cut my reindeer, white embossed my sentiment, added some ribbon and Stickles before popping my reindeer on to finish the tag. Here are a couple of close-ups ...

For the last one of today's projects, I combined the ATC/Tag Builder with the CUTplorations Word Die Wonderful and stamps from the Holiday Sketches: Christmas Candles, the Sentiment Builder: Christmas & New Year and the Large Ice Skates from the Stamp Lab.

I cut my tag from white card, added some pretty paper with a torn bottom edge, distressed the tag edges, stamped, coloured fuzzy cut and attached the skates, added my sentiment and finished off with twine, sequins and Stickles. Again I got a couple of close-up of the ATC/Tag Builder edges ...
